Truth the First Lesson
Horses Never Lie, Can't Lie, Don’t Lie and never sit in judgment. Yet they give you a mirror to what you are, who you are, and are waiting for you to come back - acknowledging the truth of you. They give you answers that you didn't know you were waiting for. Give you answers to what you didn't even know you needed.
When you work with an instructor or Kjrsos Guide, their job is to do much the same. To show you sides of yourself that perhaps you haven't paid attention to yet. To open your awareness of not just what you do, but what you don't know, no matter how weird at first you might think it is. Creating the possibility of a new reality that is waiting for you. Because in the end, that is what learning is. Creating a new reality that you didn't know about before.
For many, those lessons begin when learning how to ride. And it is here that the instructor has to be the most brutal, the most honest. Because the moment you step in front of us while we care about you, first, we have to help protect the horse. Protect the horse from you. You no longer become our priority. The horses do or at least they should be because too often they are the ones whose voice doesn't get heard. But whether you ride or not, not to be honest? Is not actually helping. But it is a choice that many make when interacting with others.
