Learn to flip the half-halt upside down, transforming it from a restrictive signal into a request for more power and engagement from the hindquarters.

Flip the Halt Halt Upside Down to See it Work. The biggest problem with the half-halt is the name—and not the half part. Anything named halt that is supposed to make movement better is just asking for trouble.
Because the human in us can’t but help to interpret that this means that our hands are to take against the power of forward. And to take against the energy of the horse and then say that what we are doing is raising engagement just doesn’t make any sense. No! The motor of the car doesn’t start to make even more energy. The ball will just slow down. So maybe it is time to question exactly what we think we are doing with this device that we call a half-halt. We could just ignore the whole thing, except there is something here
