Quantum Wakening - The Rider's Story

If you are looking for facts and figures, the how-to's to know how to do this.  That is the beauty of what you are about to learn.  How to become the most amazing teacher, rider, friend to the horse.  Because in the end, everything that you learn here is about how to make what can be between us.  Between human and horse incredibly beautiful and healthy for both of us.

Course Studies

This is us becoming them. I think that is what everyone misses.

We climbed aboard thinking to take charge, not thinking we have to give up of ourselves.  That this is not about the horses giving themselves up to us, but us giving ourselves over to the shape, form and energy of the horse.  Our body becoming an extension of theirs.  And the Transformation Begins.

The beginning of awareness of another.

Here we follow the journey of 'This is Us Becoming Them - The Physical Path'

Where through physical contact to the horse we follow an alternate path that is available through the horse to finding both the quiet and connection.

The Beginning of Transformational Riding

A study guide to how to introduce the concepts of how to actualize the concepts behind "This is us becoming them."

Your seat should be a seat that brings life, power, to your horse.

We study patterns of movement of the horse but rarely study the patterns of the rider.  Patterns that once we know them can be passed to others.  Patterns that free the horse from restrictions that we create unknowingly because we are unaware how to match the patterns that are in the horses.  But once we know them even beginners can be riding brilliantly from the beginning. Because they no longer limit the horses.

How to pattern the rider to the first stride of trot allowing the horse full access to power up and show us the brilliance that is him, as we learn to get out of the way in the very first moment.

Helping beginners on how to keep the horse to the wall, solving the problem of counter bend that so many have trouble with.  When introduced properly ensures that there is no reliance on the outside rein and helps riders understand the beginnings of weight as an aid.

Discovery classes are different than the rest. Often posing questions more than answers but trying to look at everything with open eyes.  Examining facts, figures and especially what is in our hearts.  Questions that we return to again and again and again.  Because that is who and what we are. Kjrsos looking for the questions in the answers that we have that maybe can lead us to even a better understanding. Here we examine the question of what the differences it creates in the horses to bit or not to be bitted.

This is the study of under the parameters of what is healthy movement for the horse, what is healthy when we introduce a rider into the equation.  When we no longer are just talking about the horse and healthy movement, but the horse/rider combination, a new creature, one combined from two, this new physical structure demanding different parameters to ensure the health of the horses.

This is where we speak of bend not lean, collection and the need for the horse not to be on his forehand and why.

Where do we want the weight to be supported from?  Three Levels. Front, Center, Back and what does this look like in the horse.

Bend vs Lean

The why, the how and the what.  The effect upon the horse and why would you choose one above the other.

Covering everything from change of bend, what we want to see in the horse/human combo when we any kind of turn.  Based on Foundation Principle To Move Into Our Hand

A discussion on tracking up, overtracking and are we focusing on the wrong thing?  Rather than worrying about overtracking or tracking up that this, as everything is, is about balance.  Sweet exquisite balance of the horse/rider. The centaur combination.  The horse needs to step into the specific spot that balances what is above.  He needs to step into the center of balance to lift it up into power.

Trot has always been known as the gait of training.  Here is where we can influence,  change so much of what is the horse. In part because there is so much variation that we can play with here.  Some think that we are limited to collected, working, extended trot.  But to think that is to limit the brilliance of all that can be found here. Access to the horse's body where we can control tempo, bend, reach and so much more. And even beyond that all the variances that we can find when we combine this pure diagonal gait with different movements and endless combinations of movements giving us yet another level of discovery and help the horse build another level of access that even he might be surprised by.

What is right, wrong, when, where, from the perspective of the horse's body.

Our horses are powerful.  Easy for them to leap and play.  But we have to make sure that when we are a part of this, that how and what we do is healthy for the horses.  And more, make sure he wants to be a part of this.

This is in essence a non-category, not something that we study but something that we encourage you not to study.

The Hand Gallop is a gait that many do not utilize.  Often not understanding the difference between the hand gallop and the gallop that we see with a horse speeding down the final turn at the racetrack.  So many people miss out on this wonderful gait.

Helping riders recognize different instances of anticipation that we build into the horses, which in turn brings limitations into the work that we do with our horses without even our awareness.

Dedicated to understanding the complexity of the aids that ask for bend. This is where the rider has the most difficulty in the transition from passenger to rider when we begin to direct the energy of the horse.  A bridge we need to help riders cross, maximizing the lessons that come before and that come after.

In changing directions, we are literally changing course.  Crossing over from merging with the energies of the horse, and becoming that energy, and now finding the best way to direct that energy consciously.   As soon as we take up this choice we become responsible for all that transgresses from this moment forward.  Authority cannot be had without responsibility.  The two are joined, two different sides of the same coin.  This is the challenge you have now undertaken.  Do not take it lightly.  Be humble and forgiving of yourself though because it is a journey for all of us.

This is the beginning.  The beginning of the creation of dynamic potential.  This is where the conversation begins with the horse, as we explore, we open up possibilities. Opening up our minds and the minds of our horses to the idea of possibilities.  It is here that everything changes.  Without this conversation, we can't start, we can't help the horse discover how collection begins with him, with his awareness of possibilities.

Value this time, explore carefully.  You are right now creating the endings, not just the beginnings.

All Potential Lives in Collection

Every moment with your horse is about collection.  Collection is not an end goal, collection is not a final form, but is along for the entire ride.  It is there in a milder form, if your horse's body is healthy.  There to nurture, to develop, to cradle, to find and to protect and perhaps most importantly of all, to allow.

Potential ~ Ability | Possibilities | Capacities | Capabilities

Of should this be collection lives in potential?

This is preparing the rider for the concept that in every movement is the 'potential' for collection, so we need to be aware and ready to allow, support, and praise as the baby steps of collection begin to appear.

We start here, because this is where we will end.. It is from this point forward we need to be aware of possibilities of the potential of what the end is, so we know where we are going and when we are surprised by that special moment we can embrace it, praise it, glory in it, in that moment in time.  Sometimes the change will be subtle and a little more difficult to find to reward, so we must be vigilant always.

The pre-eminent movement that is the base of all movements.  It is the key leading to access to power of the hind legs and is the key to all other movements, from piaffe to pirouettes.  This one movement is everything. Which makes how you access shoulder-in the most important thing that you will ever learn.

Playing with corners ~ the beginning of exploration of the possibilities that live in the horse.

Need to subdivide.. the yield of the outside hand for initial corners.. that lesson.  Versus playing with corners and the training possibilities that live in there.

Pre-requisite The Mobile Shoulder under The Study of Healthy Movement

From collected to extended trot.

Including the mittletrab

Not only what each is and the dangers in each but what each brings to create a malleable, released yet powerful in the strength it brings to the horse's body.

The balance of two sides equally developed.  Equal bend and release.  The pinnacle of our horsemanship.  But a word that has no business being referred to at any but the most developed and highest levels of your equestrian journey.  This is the quest.  The equestrian quest.

They can not be too much forward.  Forward protects the horse from us.

This is us utilizing surprise to check on how prepared our horses are.  If they learned the lessons of possibility or if they still have a ways to go. A course about preparation but a preparation that is the responsibility of the horse and leads to a new level of balance that comes from them and not from us.

This is such an important subject.  This movement the base of everything that is to follow, this is where you will live for the rest of the equestrian journey.  It can be a direct path to piaffe, pirouettes and so much more.

This level of riding is not a requirement of Kjrsos. In part because of the level of fitness that it requires of the horse. Systematically built up, so that bone, muscle and sinew can support the excessive demands of this level. Yet this is where we discover that the end is just the beginning all over again. Something once experienced brings an entirely different perspective to what beginnings should be.

Today we focus on the pirouettes that exist in either end of the horse, somehow we have forgotten the joys when a pirouette exists in the middle.

Learning what the full pass can bring us that the half pass can't. Limitations that exist in half pass that don't exist in full pass help us utilize this movement to create sequences that so helpfully help us access the horse's body.

Passage can be fun but is wrought with difficulty because it seems easy to achieve yet with that ease so much wrong can be introduced to the horse's body.

Piaffe when done right is a moment where more options exist at any other moment.  A time where more possibilities exist than at any other point of time and anything else that we do with our horses.

This is not something you do, this is something you find.  You can find it because it now exists.  All the work that you have done to now, creating a horse that is now balanced, equal, in carriage, in flexibility, in bend.  Equal capabilities gives you straightness.  Here we discuss how you got here.

It is in preparation that collected walk is created.  Of any other movement a true collected walk that allows no restrictions anywhere in the horse is probably of every movement the most difficult and hence is left to the very end with the hope that in this attempt we will not undo all that we have tried to do in preserving full access to the body of the horse.

Preserving, protecting, allowing, developing potential is the defining answer of Kjrsos.  It is 'the' question to make sure that the path that you have taken is true.   This is our measuring stick.
