When to NOT apply a Half-Halt because you will be doomed to failure

1.  Never in a Lower Level of Carriage as the horse will never attempt to raise up properly. Which is interesting to consider from the perspective that people think this is how you put a horse into a higher level of carriage.

2.  Never when the horse is not poll high, behind the vertical.  As this will only get exaggerated what will happen even further.

3.  If you have not already learned how to follow diagonals, then the half-halt is not even possible.

Make a note that this is not an aid when not properly used. But it should be. But it can only be when we do it right. Article A New Rein Aid.
